  • TOO INCREDIBLE NOT TO SHARE!

    From my devotions today:

    Matthew 8:1-4

1.) When he came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him.
2.) A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean."

3.) Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" Immediately he was cured of his leprosy. 4.) Then Jesus said to him, "See that you don't tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.

Jesus sent the man he cured to the priests, AS A TESTIMONY TO THEM. Now, we know from the rest of the story, that the priests did not believe that Jesus was the promised Messiah and Christ. So, Jesus sent this man, whom he had healed, to the priests, knowing that the priests would question the man concerning his healing.

What does this have to do with me and us today?

Is my life, which is supposed to be transformed due to Jesus' work in my life, lived out as a testimony to a world that doesn't believe in Jesus?

  • Why haven't I seen this before???

My devotions have taken me to the book of Matthew, where I am slowly working my way through each chapter. I have learned so much already - and I'm only ready for chapter 6!

Here is one of the lessons that I have learned:

Matthew 3:13-17 - Observation: John the Baptist questions Jesus' actions and questions his own personal worth to do the very thing Jesus has sought him out to do! What I mean is this: Jesus travelled to the Jordan River to be baptised by John. However, when Jesus arrived, John objected: "I need to be baptised by you, and do you come to me?"

How often has God specifically selected me for a task - and then I question His judgement? I need to understand that if he has selected me to do something, he already knows my weaknesses, my failures, and my shortcomings - yet he still chose me - so I need to stop my questioning and trust His opinion that I am adequately prepared for the task he has asked me to do.
